I love the idea of friend dates. Planning a Sunday afternoon or Thursday night with girlfriends for good clean fun. It can be tricky getting everyone’s schedules aligned but once you do, it’s so worth it.
Sometimes, it can be daunting trying to think of fun things to do. Girls like to do the same things over and over- drink wine. The end. hahaha. It’s nice to do that over a shared activity.
For example, I have several girlfriends who have corralled me into a “craft night”. This is my idea of torture. I don’t have the patience for it and I also suck at crafts. I don’t like to do things I’m not good at so I would typically pass on something like this. However, recently, I gave in and crafted and it was a really cute, really easy craft, wine was involved along with tasty food and treats for dessert. It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about who you’re doing it with, spending time together
With that being said, I think a great friend date night would be a book swap! I know it can be hard to find time to read, however, if we cut down on social media time and switch our phones for a book, it can be done and much more rewarding.
I’m in somewhat of a book club/ study with a group of awesome women and I love having the accountability each week to get the reading done. How cool would it be if we could keep that kind of discipline but with books our friends have loved. Talk about great conversation with one another.
I never read fiction, always non fiction – about parenting, relationships, spirituality etc. I’d be open to some fiction reading because several of my friends love fiction… I’ve yet to employ this idea but I think I will soon!
Would you like a book swap friend date?
