I’m expecting my fourth baby 22 days from now but who’s counting!!? This is (more than likely) my last baby so I wanted to celebrate. The most beautiful store in the world, A’Maree’s, hosted my baby shower which provided an ambiance I could only achieve in my dreams. I knew it would be a beautiful time and that it was.
I admire the women surrounding me that day for a variety of reasons but particularly for the way they mother. When they say “it takes a village”, it really does and I’m so fortunate for the village of women God has put in my life during this special time.
My friend Jacquelyn of Beijos Events styled the shower with a mood-board that really reflected my personal style. One of my favorite and most appreciated elements of the shower were the flowers hanging over the table. That idea alone really created an elegant overtone to the table. They were so beautiful and they smelled divine as the ocean breeze came in… you’d really begin to smell them as you enjoyed conversation. I soaked that up and will keep it forever as a memory from the shower. French Buckets nailed the inspiration perfectly and also provided a flower bar for the guests to grab and go with florals of their favorites.
The guests also took home with them custom essential oils from CAMPO that mimicked the line drawing maternal artwork from the invitation for the shower. The “living” invitations had to be hand delivered because they all contained an envelope of fresh flowers, another detail Susannah of French Buckets got just right. They were beautiful.
The attendees also received a custom drawing from Dirty Eraser who performed live artwork during the baby shower. It was so beautiful to watch her create oceanside as we enjoyed one another’s company. She gifted each guest a piece of art as well as her latest adult coloring book which she has illustrated of Southern CA sea creatures. Her work is stunning- so detailed and feminine.
We all enjoyed the large grazing board provided by Lyke Minded. She created a gorgeous tablescape and the women stayed cozied up to that charcuterie with glasses of rosé and wine from Argaux and nibbled to their heart’s content.
We enjoyed salads and tartines and ended on a sweet note with homemade cakes by Chris and Aileen. Chris made an Italian coconut wedding cake and a raspberry sponge cake that were both so delectable I wish I could relive the day just to have those cakes again. Aileen makes a famous chocolate cake I love because it’s gluten free, dairy free, everything free yet still tastes like heaven, I don’t know how she does it. Like a good pregnant girl I had three pieces of cake and I was a happy camper.
At every place setting was a different quote on motherhood from a list of my favorites. Dawn gave a very sweet toast to me and to motherhood and I couldn’t have been happier to celebrate baby Grace with this group of women.
Thank you for all the support and prayers as I head into another round of raising a newborn and expanding our family. There is nothing more that I love than having a brand new baby… Grace is already so loved and I feel very supported by the women around me.
Cheers to motherhood and the support system we all need throughout!
