One of our favorite year round cocktails that we love was introduced to us by our friends at A’Maree’s many years ago and has become the store’s signature cocktail. They are always hosting trunk shows and parties for their designers, clients and the one constant that we look forward to is their fresh squeezed grapefruit juice cocktail. It is so refreshing and right now, in the heat of summer, is the perfect go-to cocktail to serve your guests if you happen to be wondering which cocktail other than a margarita!
The recipe couldn’t be any simpler…you just have to make the effort to fresh squeeze or buy fresh squeezed white or pink grapefruit juice…it really does make a difference. The nice thing about this is there are 3 ingredients and a garnish if you like. How easy is that? Also a great dinner and party cocktail because you can make it quickly.
To start, will need fresh squeezed grapefruit juice ( you can also get fresh squeezed pink grapefruit juice at Trader Joe’s or some of your local markets ) your favorite vodka such as Grey Goose or Tito’s and the secret ingredient…St-Germain liqueur. What is this liqueur you ask? St-Germain liqueur is made from elderflower blossoms and has a distinct but soft flavor, not to mention a beautiful art deco bottle that looks great on your bar display.
You can also make a larger batch and take out with you on the boat, picnic, beach, concert etc. and with three ingredients and a fresh mint garnish you won’t be struggling to get it right. It really is easy. The girls at A’Maree’s know how to make their visitors and clients feel at home and refreshed and the secret is FRESH ingredients – if offered one of these you don’t want to turn it away. I promise you will want to turn around and make it at home!
A’Maree’s Signature Grapefruit Cocktail
¾ cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1 – 2 ounces Grey Goose vodka ( use your preference)
Splash of St-Germain liqueur
Ice – lots of it
Fresh mint for garnish
Fill a glass to the top with ice, pour the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, add 1-2 ounces of Grey Goose vodka ( depending on how strong you like it) and top off with a splash of St-Germain. Stir well and add a sprig of fresh mint if desired.
** Option to add some sparkling water and less grapefruit juice if you want less sweet and lower calorie. You can also substitute a fresh rosemary sprig or berry for garnish.
