Inspired by best friend co-founders, Barbara & Sharon, ba&sh is honoring International Women’s Day this year by celebrating the stories of three sets of female founder best-friends.
Meet Kirby Kurzeka & Alatheia Hart, Co-Founders of Art of Being Female
How would you describe the other person in three words?
Alatheia on Kirby: tasteful, fun-loving, competitive.
Kirby on Alatheia: creative, fearless, and ambitious.
In honor of IWD, which female founders inspire you?
Alatheia: Karolina Kurkova of Gryph and IvyRose, Oleema Miller of MIKOH Swimwear and Elizabeth Minett of Cander Paris. All three women are my dear friends and have created their businesses with style, grace and integrity while also doing the delicate balancing act of managing their homes and families.
Kirby: I loved reading Donna Karan’s book, and I quickly became inspired by her story. Other founders that inspire me include, Sara Blakely, Founder of Spanx, Tory Burch, Estée Lauder, Arianna Huffington, and Gwyneth Paltrow. I admire women who have reached success through stepping out of their comfort zones because I know it’s not easy to put yourself “out there”.
What is your go-to work-to-evening look?
Alatheia: Dress with a blazer/cardigan draped over the shoulder!
Kirby: Always a chunky sweater accessorized well!
