While we would love to have professional arrangements delivered weekly, we often try our hand at arranging. All that is required is a great pair of shears/ scissors along with tape, a vase and a local Trader Joe’s, because everyone knows Trader Joe’s has the best flowers for the best price, especially this time of year = peonies!
We like to remove any unnecessary greenery from the stems, trim the flowers to be just taller than the lip of the vase and then create a grid with the scotch tape so that the flowers are contained and appear to be very full with great structure.
Recently, we learned that there is a secret among flower children that they’ve been keeping.
As it turns out, a spoonful of sugar not only helps the medicine go down (in the most delightful way), but it also keeps your flowers fresh for much longer. Rumor has it, if you also add a few drops of vodka, the lifespan of your beloved bouquets will last twice as long. For best results, you should change the water daily.
Try this life support trick on your flowers this week and let us know how it works! Do you have any other tricks up your sleeves we should know?
